- What is the difference between Wrinklewall and Smoothwall foil trays?
-
The difference between Smoothwall and Wrinklewall aluminium packaging lies in their design and intended use. Smoothwall packaging features a smooth and rigid structure, providing a leak-proof base ideal for a wide range of cooking methods and perfect for sealing with lidding films, enhancing both food quality and presentation.
In contrast, Wrinklewall packaging is characterised by its distinctive wrinkled sides, which not only offer aesthetic appeal but also add strength and rigidity, making it suitable for culinary creations that benefit from crisper outcomes, such as pastries and pies.
While Smoothwall is preferred for its sleek presentation and versatility in cooking applications, Wrinklewall is favoured for its ability to produce crisper bases and its unique visual appeal, catering to the diverse needs of food producers like chefs, bakers, and purchasing managers.

The unique colouration of each tray also ensures compatibility with current sorting technologies, reinforcing its role in promoting true circularity in the food packaging industry.
